With the strategy team identifying that Conor Maynard had a dedicated audience across social media and streaming platforms, they worked alongside the marketing team to create a plan to bring his audience across to Josh’s platforms, ensuring growth in social media following plus streaming numbers.
We worked directly with Josh to ensure we were attacking all areas of the industry, hitting all media outlets, social media platforms and streaming platforms his target audience of teens would be engaging on.
Our publicists worked with Conor and Josh to secure national coverage in music such as Steorboard and EQ Music, to add credibility to the release, to ensure the digital team had the leverage to take the release to editors at streaming platforms.
Within two weeks of release, the track placed on multiple Apple Music playlists such as Global Pop, Pop Delights, Future Hits and Teen Pop Hits as well as Spotify’s New Music Friday, Feel Good Look Good and New Pop UK. Reaching millions on release day through playlisting ensured the track charted in South Africa in the Apple Music Charts and secured the first hundred thousand streams across so Spotify.
Outside of streaming platforms, the digital marketing team wanted to ensure the target audience were fully engaged, so retargeted Conor’s Facebook audience of over 8.5 million with promotional content, pushing them to stream the song further. With over 20,000 engagements, the ad triggered Spotify’s algorithm to get the track placed on multiple Discovery Weekly playlists, increasing the streams to what they sit at today.
